8/365 Watchful Waiting

Because the homeless shelter in town routinely exceeds capacity in the winter (and because this is the sort of place where people actually freeze to death) the local churches provide an overflow service. The fire marshall requires that someone stays awake at all times - don't ask me why - and so I did my annual shift last night. Enough churches are involved and enough church members turn out that each church hosts 2-3 times during the winter months and most members spend 1-2 nights watching people sleep. Here's a picture of the log book and flashlight.
